Branford looks fab indeed, and I do LOVE the fact that he still digs jammin' with the Dead, even w/out Jerry.

relative to that, I've been won over to this Branford version of EYES from 12/31/90

that I think is even better--if only by a nose--than the celebrated 3/29/90 version from Nassau. Damn, he's good (plus, I'll be checking him out at the Burlington Jazz fest! Woo-hoo!)

12-31-90 is a fantastic show imo. Probably my favorite New Years show. Want to know what sucks? I didn't go to that one because i couldn't score a ticket and didnt want to be miserable knowing what was going on inside. Come to find out I could have scored one at the last minute. BUMMER

Jots, that makes me depressed just reading it. It is indeed a great show instrumentally, but Garcia's voice is gone. Too many party favourites backstage, I suppose.

Thanks Grendle.

I was at that Nassau show, too! It restored my faith in the boys. At the time I was very down on the Dead ("the scene", mostly) and was convinced the band had no surprises left. If not for a persistent friend who basically gave me a ticket and talked me into going to the show, I would have missed one of the all time great performances. That'll learn me!
